Advocacy is at the heart of Phoenix Community Alliance's (PCA) mission! 🎇 💙

Throughout our history, we've used the expertise of our collective Members and leadership to effectively advocate for positive results. Because we're selective in how we advocate, a letter of support or opposition carries additional weight.

In the spring, when it became clear that key state historic preservation funding and the existence of the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) were at risk, Patrick McDaniel, PCA's Advocacy Director, sent Call-to-Action emails to the Arts, Culture, & Public Life (ACPL) and Central City Planning & Development (CCPD) Committee(s) and other Members to contact select elected officials to support funding of the SHPO.

The coordination effort was successful, and PCA and other key local stakeholders helped ensure that key funding for historic preservation was included in the final state budget signed by Governor Katie Hobbs.

To understand how historic preservation funding drives economic development, community identity, and attracts visitors, read Jim McPherson's blog using the link in bio.

The reopening of Arizona Science Center's Dorrance Planetarium now has a date! 🌎

On Saturday, October 18, the five-story planetarium will reopen with a highly impressive technological upgrade that sets the center as a global leader in immersive science experiences. 📽️

The new 8K+ resolution screen will be a spherical dome, measuring almost 60 ft. in diameter, wrapping around the audience for an immersive screening experience, including state-of-the-art spatial audio. The reimagined theater has a capacity of 194, including 106 premium seats. The renderings hint at the immersive experience visitors to the planetarium can expect.

Want to save yourself a premium spot? Advanced ticket sales begin in mid-August on azscience.org.
