THE COMMITTEE
At the heart of any strong city is an active arts and culture community. The Arts, Culture & Public Life Committee convenes stakeholders and advocates to support and partner with the arts. The Committee complements arts and culture stakeholders as they work to attract talent, maximize business innovation, advance an inclusive city, foster placemaking, and enhance community and economic development in Phoenix.
For prospective Members, this Committee offers an invaluable opportunity to connect with a range of professionals passionate about arts and culture.

CURRENT INITIATIVES
Support the City of Phoenix Planning & Development as it identifies the next steps in implementing Art in Private Development in actual development projects.
Create and implement advocacy strategies that support budget allocations in the city and state 2025 budgets, including the City of Phoenix Department of Arts & Culture and the Arizona Commission on the Arts. Support additional relief funding for arts and culture, including elements related to parks and historic preservation.
Articulate the significance of arts, culture, and public life assets as part of Downtown Phoenix Inc.’s efforts to promote the economic development and competitive advantage of Greater Downtown Phoenix.
Expand the Committee’s engagement with elements that influence the guest experience when visiting Downtown arts and culture venues, including creative placemaking, accessibility, multi-modal transportation and parking, family friendly infrastructure, etc.
Invite representatives of historic preservation, affordable housing, culinary arts, and creative businesses to engage with PCA.
2025 PUBLIC POLICY AGENDA
Advocate for local, state, and federal arts, culture, arts education (K-12), and historic preservation funding to improve/facilitate regional economic, community, and cultural development.
Advocate for public art, favoring local artists when appropriate, in private development, and support public and private design and place-making efforts that enhance the public realm experience.
Support creative placemaking, historic preservation, creative businesses, and other projects and initiatives taken up by PCA that affect our region’s arts, culture, and public life.
