On September 21st, we are collaborating with Cahokia to host our 2021 Fall Equinox Fundraiser, an annual celebration to honor new seasons, celebrate new ideas and reconnect as a creative and collaborative community…𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅! The Fall Equinox Fundraiser symbolizes the start of change: entering new beginnings and recognizing the importance of exploring new ways to serve this ever-growing arts district.
Guests will enjoy live music from New Groove, mingling with local community members while exploring the new Cahokia space, a chance to own a one-of-a-kind commemorative poster designed by Phoenix artist and designer Jeremy Arviso (Diné/ Hopi/ Pima/ Tohono O’odham) and a silent mural auction featuring art from UNCONTAINED mural artists Jesse Yazzie (Diné/ Navajo), Danny Upshaw (Diné/ Navajo) and Zachary Justin (Akimel O’odham). Plus, enjoy delicious hors d’oeuveres by Conceptually Social Catering and locally crafted beer by AZ Wilderness DTPHX, along with fine wine and spirit options.
Our honorary guest speaker Councilwoman Yassamin Ansari will share her story around seasons of change, the importance of creativity in urban spaces and the value of collaboration, along with words from our Cahokia hosts. The event will be hosted at Cahokia, an Indigenous-led cultural platform to ideate, innovate and inform the direction for collaboration, co-founded by Roosevelt Row CDC board member, artist, entrepreneur and founder of Indige Design Collab Eunique Yazzie (Diné/Navajo) along with co-founder Melody Lewis (Mojave/ Tewa/ Hopi), also co-founder of Indigenous Community Collaborative. Lastly, we will unveil the results of our recently conducted community survey with the opportunity to connect on this new season of change for the organization.
Want to be part of this next chapter of collaborative growth in the arts district? Then, come join this festive evening!
