A Public Place for Public Art!

The City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, in celebration of the Arizona Centennial and the 25th anniversary of the Public Art Program, has opened The Gallery @ City Hall. This dynamic new space is devoted to rotating exhibitions drawn from the city’s historic collection of 1,000 artworks, and is supported exclusively with private contributions. Opened in March 2012, the gallery premiers “Place: Images of the West,” featuring 23 paintings, prints and photographs that highlight the landscape-inspired visions of artists working in the West. Together, the show and gallery celebrate the cultural legacy that Phoenicians began building nearly a century ago, in 1915, when schoolchildren contributed pennies and nickels to help purchase the city collection’s first painting from the Arizona State Fair.

Join the Phoenix Community Alliance in supporting the city’s cultural legacy by making a tax-deductible contribution through the PCA to the Gallery @ City Hall. Stay tuned for details about events that celebrate the city’s century of art.
